Sandhill Chardonnay 2015

Clear and bright with a bouquet of pineapple and ripe apple balanced by notes of oak, vanilla and custard. A medium-bodied wine with a slightly rich mouth-feel balanced by refreshing acidity and flavours of lemon, melon, peach, spice and toasty oak. The refreshing, lingering finish has flavours of spicy oak, lemon and a touch of tropical fruit. Pairs well with grilled shrimp skewers; grilled halibut; lemon risotto; creamy pasta with smoked salmon; turkey pot pies; puff pastry wrapped chicken or salmon; pork chops marinated with Dijon and tarragon; grilled chicken with a yogurt smoked paprika marinade. 

Noteworthy of the 2012 growing season was the month of June when frequent rain resulted in twice the normal monthly average, producing very vigorous growth, particularly in the mid to north valley. This required our growers to do extensive shoot thinning and fruit removal to maintain quality.
July, August and September were back to normal, with dry, sunny, warm months. The growing season finished with just above the average heat units expected in the Okanagan Valley. This was very welcome compared to the very cool 2011 vintage.
Ripening proceeded almost linearly, with most whites ripening nicely starting mid September and followed by reds throughout October. Quality of both whites and reds are above average

Wine Making

- Hand-harvested and whole cluster pressed
- 50% of the wine was barrel fermented and aged sur lie in new and one year old French oak barrels for 9 months to provide richness and complexity
- 50% of the wine was stainless steel fermented and aged for full expression of the fruit
- To preserve vibrant fruit expression malolactic fermentation was prevented from occurring
