Sandhill Chardonnay 2015

Clear and bright with a lemon yellow hue and a bouquet of red apple, lemon, delicate toasty oak, custard and a hint of spice.
A medium to full-bodied Chardonnay with a rich, round mouth-feel, and flavours of tropical fruit, melon, apple and spice.
The long lingering finish has flavours of tropical fruit, lemon custard and just enough acidity to refresh.
Serve not overly chilled at 14 to 16°C with baked halibut; mushroom risotto; creamy pasta with smoked salmon; turkey pot pies; puff pastry wrapped chicken or salmon; pork chops marinated with Dijon and tarragon; grilled chicken with a yogurt smoked paprika marinade; salmon quiche; creamy potato dishes.

The southern Okanagan Valley experienced back-to-back seasons of extreme heat units in 2014 and 2015, which saw 1702 and 1764 Growing Degree Days, respectively. The 2015 vintage saw the highest recorded GDD since the record-breaking 1998 vintage at 1778 GDD. The long, warm, sunny and dry growing period provided a good size crop of high quality fruit. Look for white wines with pure fruit expression and big bold reds with soft tannins and ripe, rich fruit. 2015 is another epic vintage for the history books.

Critical Acclaim

Wine Making Hand-harvested and whole cluster pressed. 50% of the wine was barrel fermented and aged sur lie in new and one year old French oak barrels for 9 months to provide richness and complexity. 50% of the wine was stainless steel fermented and aged for full expression of the fruit. To preserve vibrant fruit expression, malolactic fermentation was prevented from occurring.
