GROWING CONDITIONS
The months of May and June experienced cool, wet conditions which slowed growth, disrupting some spring bud development thereby reducing crop load in the vineyards. Summer began with a bang and from early July through August there was consistent sunshine, high heat units and timely rains. A very warm September provided the perfect conditions for any lagging maturity resulting from the slow spring start. The great weather continued into October, extending hang time for some varietals that needed that extra push. Overall, it was a great growing season with healthy canopies, the ability for the vines to respond to the weather, and fewer periods of shut down due to extreme heat, therefore allowing grape maturity to continue on an even and steady rate with optimum conditions. Wine Making | • A portion of the Gamay Noir was harvested from Sandhill Estate Vineyard and received a short period of skin contact for that perfect pink colour. The remaining Gamay Noir and Merlot grapes were harvested from Sandhill Estate and Rocky Ridge vineyards, and immediately upon arrival at the winery, were gently whole-bunch pressed. |

Overall impression of the wine |
A Rosé that is very full in body. Earthy tastes, at first, opening into a long and rich and full middle with an amazing and never ending finish. Goes with so many foods from spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette, spaghetti and meat balls to a chicken curry. Relax and linger with this spectacular Rosé.
The 2011 Sandhill Rosé was amazing but the 2012 is incredible! Thanks (Posted on 5/18/13)
