Osprey Ridge Vineyard, Oliver, BC

Just north of Phantom Creek Vineyard, on a gentle rolling slope, lies the Osprey Ridge Vineyard. This is where owner and operator Robert Goltz, along with his son Nathan, quietly practices the innovative techniques that have helped earn him the reputation as one of the premier growers in the valley.

Named for the birds that fish in the nearby river, the Osprey Ridge Vineyard is the perfect place for Robert's experiments. In fact, he is currently experimenting with Rhone-style grapes, which would be a first in the Okanagan.

The soil here is heavier loam mixed with rock that becomes gravel below three feet. This requires somewhat more carefully managed irrigation than other vineyards to the south. The vines at Osprey Ridge are planted at a higher density per acre, which helps limit the yield per plant without affecting the overall yield or, more importantly, interfering with the exceptional quality of the grapes.
