Phantom Creek Vineyard, Oliver, BC
A few years ago Richard Cleave planted his own vineyard just a short drive down the road from the Sandhill Estate Vineyard. It is here that he and Howard Soon focus on very small grape yields

Phantom Creek Vineyard is just seven acres in size, with plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Malbec. And Sandhill is the only winery that receives premium VQA grapes from this unique BC vineyard. The first wines from the Phantom Creek Vineyard have now been nurtured in the cellar, and introduced into the Sandhill Small Lots Program.

The soil at Phantom Creek has very high sand content, excellent drainage and maximum sun exposure to the grapes. Richard Cleave has reduced yields to some of the lowest levels in the Okanagan Valley, giving us absolutely full ripeness and high sugar content in the grapes. That is the best gift a winemaker could ask for, and ensures Phantom Creek grapes will remain in our Small Lots Program for years to come.
